Au revoir Jean-Jacques!

April 28, 2011

We are extremely saddened by the passing of accordionist Jean-jacques Franchin. He was a musician without equal, and a kind and generous spirit. He will be dearly missed in the musical community in France and all the parts of the globe where he shared his astonishing talent. Bad Reputation had the great fortune of sharing a stage with him only months before his untimely death. See the video of Bad Reputation with Joel Favreau, Jean-Jacques Franchin, and guest singers Dawn Landes and Hilary Downes HERE.

Come see Bad Reputation on Bastille Day, July 14 at Barbes, a very special "Diary of a Chambermaid" show to laugh and cry at the state of Frenchness in this day and age.

Pierre de Gaillande and Christian Bongers just had a great time in Switzerland and France, playing Bad Reputation concerts with ex-Melomane cellist Frank Heer and Pierre's uncle, guitarist Yves de Gaillande. They played a beautiful outdoor springtime concert at old favorite Helsinki Club in Zurich, discovered the groovy Kafe Kairo in Bern, and played two raucus, sold-out shows at the Brassens festival in Vaison-la-Romaine for die-hard Brassens fans.

The Bad Reputation CD has been getting regular airplay on French radio stations RFI, FIP, and Radio Nova. Pierre was recently interviewed by Radio France International (RFI) on the occasion of the Brassens expo at Cité de la Musique in Paris. Hear it HERE.
